This journal is managed and published by the Blue Economy and Maritime Security Research Centre, housed within the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Universiti Malaysia Sabah. Maritime journals, as one of the main mediums for academic publication, serve not only as references for scientific research but also as platforms for delivering in-depth analyses of relevant maritime issues, including safety, technology, international trade, and maritime law. This article focuses on the status of maritime journals as legitimate and important academic references, while also examining key issues in writing and publishing in maritime journals. The methodology used in this research is content analysis of various leading maritime journals, followed by case studies on the impact of maritime research on policy and industry practices. The key findings from this writing demonstrate that maritime journals play a significant role in linking theory with practice, fostering critical thinking, and providing a platform for innovation in the maritime field. Writing for maritime journals requires an objective, evidence-based approach and involves rigorous hypothesis testing. Jaringan maritim merupakan rangkaian dan hubungan ekonomi di laut yang berhubung kait dengan aktiviti perdagangan, pelabuhan dan perkapalan. Semua aspek ini sangat penting bukan sahaja untuk British mencipta keuntungan semata-mata tetapi juga untuk melihat kepentingan pulau ini dalam konteks sejarah maritim di Borneo. Kajian ini menggunakan kaedah penyelidikan kualitatif yang memberi tumpuan kepada sumber primer dan sumber sekunder dalam mendapatkan bahan-bahan kajian. Berdasarkan rekod-rekod sejarah jelas menunjukkan bahawa British telah berusaha mengeksploitasi sumber ekonomi di pulau ini sehingga menjadikan pulau ini sebagai tanah jajahan British pada tahun 1846.
