Abstract
The trend of urban development and modernization has a great impact on the quality of life of urban citizens. The Local Authority is an important body that serves to ensure that the development carried out meets the needs and can improve the quality of life of the city's citizens. Therefore, the study conducted on Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) aims to find out the role played by this Local Authority in improving the quality of life of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah citizens. The data of this qualitative study was collected using a structured interview technique with DBKK Senior Officers. This study found that DBKK has a clear role and goal in improving the quality of life of the city's citizens through service activities and urban development. Hence, DBKK's role guaranteed the health of the environment and prevent security threats to the citizens of Kota Kinabalu. With that, the quality of life of the city's residents is considered comfortable and safe.

Abstrak
Arus pembangunan dan pemodenan bandar memberi impak besar ke atas kualiti hidup warga bandar. Pihak Berkuasa Tempatan merupakan badan penting yang berkhidmat dalam memastikan pembangunan yang dijalankan memenuhi keperluan dan dapat meningkatkan kualiti hidup warga bandar. Oleh itu, kajian yang dijalankan ke atas Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (DBKK) bertujuan untuk mengetahui peranan yang dimainkan oleh DBKK dalam meningkatkan kualiti hidup warga Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan data kajian dikutip melalui temubual mendalam bersama pegawai kanan DBKK. Hasil kajian ini mendapati DBKK mempunyai peranan dan matlamat yang jelas dalam meningkatkan kualiti hidup warga bandaraya menerusi aktiviti perkhidmatan dan pembangunan bandar. Justeru itu kesan daripada peranan DBKK Telah memberi jaminan kesihatan persekitaran dan keselamatan kepada warga bandar raya Kota Kinabalu agar hidup selesa dan selamat.
