ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

We are pleased to announce that the second International Conference on Politics and International Studies (ICPIS 2020) will be organised by the Centre for the Promotion of Knowledge and Language Learning, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) in collaboration with the Department of International and Strategic Studies, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Universiti Malaya. This time around the theme is ‘Malaysia in a De–Globalising World: Conflict and Uncertainty in the Age of Pandemic’ which we strongly feel is necessary to understand how the process of de-globalisation is increasingly altering nation-states’ position within the realm of domestic and international politics.

The rise of right wing political parties and a decline in global economic interdependency has rapidly fueled the de-globalisation process by creating conflict and uncertainty in many parts of the world. The battle against the current Covid-19 pandemic has spurred a great challenge among the global community thus becoming a catalyst in the worldwide de-globalising process. This conference therefore provides an opportunity for the participants to share their ideas on such development among colleagues who will meet through a virtual platform from different parts of the world. Topics and papers of interest include, but are not limited to, the following sub-themes:
