Penerokaan Gaya Keibubapaan Ibu Bapa Kelas Sosial Rendah Yang Mempunyai Anak Berpencapaian Rendah

Kajian ini adalah berasaskan masalah keibubapaan bagi ibu bapa yang mempunyai anak berpencapaian rendah dan dijalankan bagi tujuan meneroka gaya keibubapaan mereka supaya boleh dijadikan panduan dalam menjayakan program intervensi, iaitu Terapi Tingkah laku Kognitif. Seramai lima puluh orang ibu bapa yang mempunyai anak berpencapaian rendah serta mempunyai masalah tingkah laku telah dipilih bagi mengikuti Terapi Tingkah laku Kognitif sebagai program intervensi yang dijalankan dalam tempoh tiga bulan. Dalam tempoh tersebut, ibu bapa telah diberikan bimbingan keibubapaan melalui kaunseling individu dan kaunseling kelompok. Bagi tujuan pengumpulan data, hanya sepuluh orang sahaja ibu bapa dipilih dari jumlah asal iaitu lima puluh orang. Data yang dikumpul adalah hasil rakaman tiga sesi kaunseling individu dan tiga sesi kaunseling kelompok pada bulan pertama program intervensi dijalankan. Artikel ini adalah huraian data kualitatif tentang gaya keibubapaan bagi peserta kajian yang direkodkan semasa sesi kaunseling individu dan kelompok pada tempoh sebulan program intervensi dijalankan. Berasaskan lima tema yang dikumpul, data menunjukkan bahawa kesemua peserta mengaplikasi gaya keibubapaan gabungan autoritarian-permisif abaian, mempunyai efikasi keibubapaan yang rendah, aspirasi bagi masa depan kanak-kanak yang rendah, gagal menyediakan pelbagai bentuk sokongan bagi membaiki pencapaian kanak-kanak serta kawalan tingkah laku yang longgar. Dapatan kajian adalah selaras dengan teori kitaran kemiskinan. Ibu bapa dan kanak-kanak memerlukan pelbagai bentuk sokongan supaya pencapaian akademik kanak-kanak boleh diperbaiki.
