Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

  • There are no strict formatting requirements, but all manuscripts must contain the essential elements needed to evaluate a manuscript; abstract, author affiliation, figures, tables, funder information, and references. Further details may be requested  upon acceptance.
  • Should be written with the following elements in the following order: title page; abstract; keywords; main text introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion; acknowledgments; declaration of interest statement; references; appendices (as appropriate); table(s) with caption(s) (on individual pages); figures; figure captions (as a list).
  • Author name(s), journal or book title, article or chapter title, year of publication, volume and issue (where appropriate) and page numbers are essential to be included in the reference. All bibliographic entries must contain a corresponding in-text citation.

The Malaysian Economic Review (MER) allows authors to retain the copyright of their publications without restriction. However, authors grant MER the right of first publication and non-exclusive publishing rights. Authors may reuse the content of their articles in future works, provided that the original publication in MER is properly acknowledged.
