Abstract

Regulasi emosi di kalangan remaja merujuk kepada kemahiran untuk mengenalpasti, menguruskan, dan mengawal emosi diri serta orang lain. Perkembangan regulasi emosi yang sihat memainkan peranan penting dalam menyokong kesihatan mental sepanjang kehidupan manusia. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti hubungan antara strategi regulasi emosi dan simptom kemurungan di kalangan remaja Malaysia, dengan mengkaji peranan kesukaran regulasi emosi sebagai mediator. Kajian ini menggunakan kaedah persampelan rawak berstrata, dengan enam strata yang mewakili zon utara, zon selatan, zon tengah, zon timur, Sabah, dan Sarawak. Sebanyak 1,868 remaja berusia 13 dan 14 tahun dari 28 sekolah menengah harian di Malaysia terlibat dalam kajian ini. Responden diminta untuk menjawab soal selidik yang merangkumi aspek latar belakang, strategi regulasi emosi (ERQ-CA), kesukaran dalam regulasi emosi (DERS-18), dan simptom kemurungan (DASS-21). Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan analisis deskriptif, analisis korelasi, dan analisis model pengukuran. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa remaja cenderung menggunakan strategi penilaian semula kognitif dan penekanan ekspresif untuk menguruskan emosi mereka apabila berhadapan dengan simptom kemurungan. Kajian ini memberikan sumbangan yang signifikan terhadap pemahaman mengenai peranan regulasi emosi dalam mengurangkan simptom kemurungan.
