Abstract

ABSTRACT Employee welfare is an employee's right that must be defended and taken care of by the trade union for the sake of the harmony of an organization. For example, financial assistance such as pensions, sick pay and allowances, health care, education, and training. The program created is aimed at improving employee productivity, lunch vouchers for employees and recreational services such as vacation expenses. This is so because the welfare of these workers is very important in improving the quality of workers and further improving the relationship in the union. Based on the theme, this paper will explain previous studies related to the relationship between employee welfare and the role of trade unions involving two phases, namely the phase before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, the objective of this article is to explain the concept and importance of employee welfare through the perspective of scholars on trade unions today. Based on the analysis of previous studies, the welfare of workers is an issue that is often discussed together with employers. Based on that analysis, this study explains that the workers' welfare rights will be protected if the trade union works together to ensure that these welfare rights are preserved. Therefore, further research needs to be done to identify aspects of employee welfare and their relationship with trade unions.
