Abstract

Kecekapan Faktor Menyeluruh (TFP) adalah pengukuran kecekapan yang amat penting dan merupakan indikasi utama kepada pembuat dasar. Kajian ini memeriksa pertumbuhan TFP 18 sub industri pembuatan di negeri Sabah untuk tempoh 1985-1997 dan 2000-2010. Kajian ini menggunakan kaedah ujian Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) Indeks Malmquist untuk menilai secara empirikal produktiviti dan kecekapan. Hasil kajian ini mendapati perubahan kecekapan teknikal adalah penyumbang utama kepada pertumbuhan TFP sektor pembuatan di negeri Sabah. Kerajaan perlu memberikan penekanan kepada TFP khususnya sub industri pembuatan yang berpotensi untuk memaksimumkan kecekapan teknologi dalam pengeluaran. 

 

Total factor productivity (TFP) is a crucial measure of efficiency and thus an important indicator for policymakers. This study examine TFP growth of 18 sub industry of Sabah manufacturing for the period of 1985-1997 and 2000-2010. Output-oriented Malmquist productivity indexes and decomposition using a sequential data envelopment analysis approach (DEA) employed to empirically evaluate the effeciency and productivity.The result indicate that technical change is the main contibutor towards TFP growth of Sabah manufacturing sector.
