Abstract

The art of the novel in contemporary times serves as an effective tool for addressing societal issues. As a literary form, the novel is not merely a source of entertainment and leisure but has become a medium for conveying the culture, civilization, and traditions of nations, reflecting the maturity of minds and ideas. Islamic novels, in particular, have gained widespread popularity among many Muslim societies, becoming a benchmark for development and progress. Undoubtedly, Islamic novels represent an authentic genre of Islamic literature that embodies noble objectives and virtuous values. Consequently, many Islamic writers have contributed to the dissemination of the tolerant message of Islam through Islamic novels. They have clarified misconceptions held by non-Muslims, responded to false accusations and unfounded claims, and addressed social issues in a creative manner. This study, therefore, is titled Manifestations of Islamic Social Reality in the Novel In My Heart Is a Hebrew Woman by Khawla Hamdi. This novel is among the most renowned works of the Islamic author, aiming to reveal the hidden aspects of the true social reality of expatriate Muslims and to demonstrate methods of Islamic proselytization to non-Muslims. The study adopts two methodologies: the descriptive approach to gather and describe the required information, and the analytical approach to highlight the most significant Islamic social issues depicted in the novel. The importance of this study lies in its contribution to Islamic literary studies, as it introduces a novel topic that can enhance the image of Islam and Muslims in non-Islamic countries. Expected outcomes include addressing the stereotypes of expatriate Muslims accused of backwardness, corruption, chaos, and terrorism through evidence-based arguments, shedding light on the conditions of Muslims outside their homelands, and exploring the painful estrangement Muslims endure in their pursuit of livelihood.
