ABSTRAK Keprihatinan terhadap isu kemampanan sumber air dan kesedaran alam sekitar semakin penting dalam konteks pendidikan di sekolah luar bandar yang sering menghadapi masalah kekurangan sumber air bersih. Penyelidikan ini memfokuskan kepada penilaian tahap literasi alam sekitar terhadap sistem penuaian air hujan di persekitaran sekolah. Sampel dalam kajian ini terdiri daripada 30 orang murid yang dipilih secara rawak di sebuah sekolah luar bandar dalam daerah Kunak, Sabah. Kaedah pengujian yang digunakan ialah kaedah penyelidikan soal-selidik merangkumi empat komponen literasi alam sekitar iaitu aspek pengetahuan, kemahiran, sikap dan tingkah laku. Data yang diperolehi dianalisis menggunakan perisian Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Dapatan kajian mendapati tahap literasi alam sekitar dalam kalangan murid sekolah di daerah Kunak, Sabah adalah pada tahap yang sederhana dengan nilai skor min iaitu 3.55. Oleh itu, penerapan literasi alam sekitar dalam pendidikan ini diharap dapat meningkatkan kesedaran murid terhadap kepentingan pengurusan sumber air yang berkesan. Seterusnya ia dapat memberi manfaat yang besar dalam meningkatkan kesedaran dan amalan berkenaan pengurusan sumber air yang lestari di sekolah luar bandar selari dengan matlamat pembangunan lestari iaitu mengurus sumber air secara mampan.
ABSTRACT This study aims to evaluate the application of environmental literacy in rainwater harvesting systems in rural schools. Concerns about water resource sustainability issues and environmental awareness are increasingly important in the context of education in rural schools that often face problems with a lack of clean water resources. This research focuses on assessing the level of environmental literacy towards rainwater harvesting system in the school environment. The sample in this study consists of 30 students who were randomly selected in a rural school in the Kunak district, Sabah. The testing method used is the questionnaire research method covering four components of environmental literacy, namely knowledge, skills, attitudes and behavior. The data obtained were analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software. The findings of the study found that the level of environmental literacy among rural category school students in Kunak district, Sabah is at a moderate level with a mean score value is 3.55. Therefore, the application of environmental literacy in education is expected to increase students' awareness of the importance of effective water resource management. Next, it can provide great benefits in increasing awareness and practices regarding sustainable water resource management in rural schools in line with the goal of sustainable development, which is managing water resources sustainably.
