Abstract

This research aims to understand dependency culture from the perspective of youth leaders on Felda plan lands. The study used qualitative methods as the study design of the interview method. 11 chairmen or heads representing 11 Felda regions were selected as study respondents. Based on the analysis of the interviews conducted, three basic themes were discovered: dependence on funds to carry out youth related activities, provision of funds by Felda to carry out economic activities and income generation program by Felda. These three basic themes have formed the main theme related to the culture of dependency of youth leaders on Felda financial funds. This culture of dependency causes them always to expect financial assistance from Felda. Therefore, for the youths as the leaders of the Felda land plan, they need to be prepared to be the backbone in the future for them to design their community groups as well as highlight other ways to be given to them not to continue to practice a culture of dependence on Felda.
