Publication Ethics
Jurnal Pemikir Pendidikan (Journal of Educational Thinkers) (referred to as JPP) is fully committed to upholding the highest ethical standards for all individuals involved in the process of publishing in a peer-reviewed journal, including authors, journal editors, peer reviewers, and the publisher. JPP's publishing ethics are guided by the Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and Conduct for Journal Publishers established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). These guidelines apply to all parties engaged in the publication process, from initial contact until the completion of their respective tasks. Authors are strongly advised to review these guidelines carefully to understand the potential consequences prior to submitting their work. In the event of any ethical misconduct or violations, the article will be removed from the website, and the corresponding author (or authors) will be requested to provide a written explanation within 5 working days. The editorial board of JPP will then assess the author's response before reaching a final decision.
Editor Responsibility
Jurnal Pemikir Pendidikan (JPP) maintains high ethical standards based on Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines and adopts COPE's Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and Conduct for Journal Publishers. The Chief Editor, editors, and editorial board hold the responsibility of selecting manuscripts for publication, guided by the journal's policies and legal requirements. They are also responsible for selecting reviewers, ensuring fair evaluation without bias, protecting subject anonymity, and obtaining appropriate permissions for minors. Confidentiality is strictly maintained, with communication limited to relevant parties, and a double-blind peer-review process is followed. Any conflicts of interest must be disclosed and avoided, ensuring the integrity of the publication process
Reviewer Responsibility
- Reviewers must adhere to the given timeframe for completing manuscript reviews and seek extension approval from the editor(s) if needed.
- Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest related to the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers they are reviewing.
- Reviewers must maintain confidentiality and not use information from the manuscript for personal gain.
- Reviewers should communicate their views only with authorized parties, particularly the editor(s), and bring to their attention any concerns that may warrant rejection of the manuscript. Additionally, they should identify relevant unpublished work and alert the editor(s) about any substantial similarity or overlap with other published papers they are aware of.
Author Responsibility
- Authors must adhere to reporting standards, providing clear and unambiguous methods, honest results, and avoiding fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate data manipulation. They should retain research data for a reasonable period and consider privacy and patent protection.
- Authors must ensure originality, avoid plagiarism, and acknowledge all sources appropriately. They can publish elsewhere only after formal rejection from JPP or written acceptance of withdrawal.
- Authors should conduct research ethically, comply with relevant legislation, and disclose any conflicts of interest and financial support for their work.
- Authorship should be limited to those who made significant contributions, and all appropriate co-authors must approve the final manuscript. Corresponding authors are responsible for communication with JPP, ensuring adherence to journal requirements, ethics, and conflict of interest declaration.
- Authors should not publish the same research in multiple journals simultaneously. They are responsible for promptly notifying the journal editor about significant errors in their published works and cooperating in corrections or retractions. Plagiarism and unethical research are not tolerated, and papers with a similarity index of 20% or more will be rejected. Corrections and retractions are issued for unreliable findings, redundant publication, plagiarism, or unethical research.
JPP will reject manuscripts found to have been produced by commercial entities (e.g., fake-paper factories, "paper mills") or artificial intelligence (AI) content generators for authors stated on the manuscript and will bar the authors from future submissions.
