Penyepaduan pendidikan alam sekitar dalam kokurikulum di kalangan guru pelatih institut perguruan: Integration of environmental education into the co-curriculum among trainee teachers at teacher training institutes

Abstract

Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti usaha penyepaduan Pendidikan Alam Sekitar dalam kokurikulum di kalangan guru pelatih maktab perguruan. Bidang kokurikulum yang dikenal pasti adalah badan beruniform, kelab/persatuan dan sukan/permainan. Kajian ini hanya difokuskan kepada guru-guru pelatih semester lima Maktab Perguruan Keningau, Sabah yang terdiri daripada 173 orang guru pelatih. Hasil keputusan kajian ini menunjukkan wujud usaha penyepaduan Pendidikan Alam Sekitar dalam kalangan guru pelatih maktab perguruan dan tahap pengetahuan berkenaan isu-isu Pendidikan Alam Sekitar adalah sederhana tinggi.Terdapat bidang kokurikulum yang disepadukan dengan Pendidikan Alam Sekitar dalam kalangan guru pelatih dengan badan beruniform sebagai bidang yang paling aktif melaksanakan penyepaduan Pendidikan Alam Sekitar diikuti dengan persatuan dan sukan/permainan. Perbezaan yang signifikan turut terdapat dalam usaha penyepaduan Pendidikan Alam Sekitar dalam kalangan guru pelatih mengikut kumpulan pengkhususan manakala tidak terdapat perbezaan yang signifikan dalam usaha penyepaduan Pendidikan Alam Sekitar dalam kalangan guru pelatih mengikut jantina. Dapatan kajian juga mendapati tidak terdapat perbezaan yang signifikan terhadap tahap pengetahuan berkenaan isu-isu Pendidikan Alam Sekitar dalam kalangan guru pelatih mengikut jantina. Bahkan, tidak terdapat perbezaan yang signifikan terhadap tahap pengetahuan berkenaan isu-isu Pendidikan Alam Sekitar dalam kalangan guru pelatih mengikut kumpulan pengkhususan.

This study aims to identify efforts to integrate Environmental Education into co-curricular activities among trainee teachers at teacher training colleges. The co-curricular areas identified are uniformed bodies, clubs/associations, and sports/games. This study focuses only on fifth-semester trainee teachers at Keningau Teacher Training College, Sabah, consisting of 173 trainee teachers. The results of the study show that there are efforts to integrate Environmental Education among trainee teachers at the college and that the level of knowledge about Environmental Education issues is moderately high. There are co-curricular areas integrated with Environmental Education among trainee teachers, with uniformed bodies being the most active in implementing Environmental Education integration, followed by associations and sports/games. Significant differences are also found in efforts to integrate Environmental Education among trainee teachers according to groups specialization, while there is no significant difference in efforts to integrate Environmental Education among trainee teachers based on gender. The study also found that there is no significant difference in knowledge levels regarding Environmental Education issues among trainee teachers based on gender. Moreover, there is no significant difference in knowledge levels regarding Environmental Education issues among trainee teachers based on specialization groups.
