This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Mind Maps (PP) as a scaffolding in Problem-Based Learning (PBM) in form four Economics subject. The study uses quasi-experimental methods by performing pre-tests and post-tests to measure students' motivation toward Economics in intrinsic and extrinsic constructs. The study sample involved 96 form-four students from 3 secondary schools namely PBMPP (n=32), PBM (n=31),and traditional group (TDR) (n=33). The questionnaire instrument used the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) instrument (Duncan & Mc Keachie, 2005) to measure the effect of PBMPP on the motivation of MSQL students before and after the intervention. The ANCOVA and MANCOVA test was carried out on the motivation post-test for Economics by using the pre-test as a covariate. The results of the study show that the PBMPP method outperforms the PBM group in the intrinsic construct, belief control, efficiency, and task value. Likewise, the PBMPP group outperformed the TDR group in all motivational constructs studied. The results of the study suggest PBM by using PP as an effective scaffolding in increasing learning motivation towards Economics subject among form-four students.
