This study is conducted to examine the relationship between job tenure, job design, motivation and job satisfaction among academic staff in Politeknik Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The first specific objective is to look at the relationship between job design, motivation and job satisfaction. The second specific objective is to test whether job tenure serves as a moderator between job design, motivation and job satisfaction. The study population is 245 academic staff at Politeknik Kota Kinabalu and the sample is selected using the random sampling method. A total of 231 respondents responded through the survey questionnaire distributed. The data analysis is done using SPSS21 package. The study finds out that there is a significant relationship between job design, motivation and job satisfaction. While job tenure does serve as a significant moderator between job design, motivation and job satisfaction. The study has proposed a few research implications based on the research findings and support from past relevant literature. The research findings will be able to provide input to the management of Politeknik as guidelines for
better imrovement to achieve its goals.
