Abstract

This paper aims to identify the influence of Islamic Work Ethic on emotional labour and emotional intelligence among the management and professional staff at the Ministry of Human Resources. This research is a pilot study which involved 58 management and professional staff as respondents. Based on a quantitative statistical analysis, this study found out that the practice of Islamic Work Ethic was at a high level. The result of this study showed that the practice of Islamic Work Ethic in a workplace affects the emotional intelligence of employees and it has a significant influence on emotional labour through deep acting dimension. Thus, this study proves that by practicing Islamic Work Ethic, the managements in the public sector express good emotions by showing their real feelings and sincerity when they are interacting with employees and customers.
