Abstract

Abstract Occupational safety and health (OSH) is a critical element in the plantation sector to ensure the well-being of workers and the success of organizations. The high accident rate in the plantation sector necessitates collective efforts to establish OSH practices as a positive workplace culture. This study aims to analyze OSH practices in the plantation sector through a descriptive approach focusing on four main factors: organizational commitment, employee involvement, employee attitudes, and the work environment. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using IBM SPSS version 29, using analyses of mean values, standard deviations, frequencies, and percentages. The findings indicate that organizational commitment needs to be strengthened as it plays a crucial role in supporting overall OSH practices. Employee involvement and positive attitudes towards safety contribute to safer work practices. A conducive work environment has also been proven to minimize risks and enhance overall safety levels. Overall, this study finds that the synergy among these four factors is essential to reinforce OSH practices in the plantation sector. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the critical factors influencing OSH, providing a foundation for stakeholders to implement improvements to strengthen OSH practices for the well-being of workers and employers in the plantation sector.
