This study examines the role of history education in shaping the identity of Sabah society, especially in the context of ethnic and cultural diversity in the State Below the Wind. History education functions not only as a tool for transferring knowledge about the past, but also as a medium for the formation of identity and national spirit among students. Through a qualitative approach in the form of a case study, this research analyzes curriculum documents and history textbooks and examines the views of teachers and students on the values of identity conveyed through history teaching. The results of the study show that history teaching in Sabah is able to strengthen students' awareness of local heritage, the value of unity, and national identity, but its implementation still needs to be strengthened to be more inclusive of the socio-cultural context of Sabah. This study is expected to contribute to efforts to strengthen the history curriculum that is more balanced between national perspectives and local identities.
